A lil fun history

The passenger steamer SS Warrimoo was quietly knifing its way through the waters of the mid-Pacific on its way from Vancouver to Australia.  The navigator had just finished working out a star fix and brought Captain John DS. Phillips, the result. The Warrimoo's position was LAT 0º 31' N and LONG 179 30' W.  The date was 31 December 1899.  "Know what this means?" First Mate Payton broke in, "We're only a few miles from the intersection of the Equator and the International Date Line".  Captain Phillips was prankish enough to take full advantage of theopportunity for achieving the navigational freak of a lifetime.  He called his navigators to the bridge to check & double check the ship's position.  He changed course slightly so as to bear directly on his mark.  Then he adjusted the engine speed. The calm weather & clear night worked in his favor. At mid-night the SS Warrimoo lay on the Equator at exactly the point where it crossed the International Date Line! The consequences of this bizarre position were many:  

The forward part (bow) of the ship was in the Southern Hemisphere & in the middle of summer.

The rear (stern) was in the Northern Hemisphere & in the middle of winter.

The date in the aft part of the ship was 31 December 1899.

In the bow (forward) part it was 1 January 1900.

This ship was therefore not only in:

Two different days,

Two different months,

Two different years,

Two different seasons

But in two different centuries - all at the same time!

Trying New Things

So we finally got a new stove with a working oven! I'm so happy, we went months with out and had to fry most of our meats unless we were able to boil it and make soup. That got old fast! Well yesterday we got a really good deal on a stove and everything works on it. 

Today we decided to try a new biscuit bake. I'm excited for it and cant wait for dinner. It's going to be really good and yummy. check it out if you want.

Sleeping blues

So I guess I had to much caffeine because I cant sleep. Oh well I'll be ok, I'm resting in the morning anyway. Till then I'll listen to music on spotify. I love that app, I have access to all the music I love and cant live without. Go check it out. 

Pumpkin patch fun

Pumpkin patch today was so much fun!

I haven't been to the patch in a really long time. I'm so glad I got the chance to go. Next year may be different with new excitement that I dont know if I'll be able to get to the patch again. 

I know my pumpkins aren't big enough to carve but this is exactly what I wanted.  Nice and cute so I can paint faces on them Halloween day. I'm so excited.

Hope your Halloween is as good as I hope mine will be. Be safe and watchful theres a bunch of crazy things going on in this world. 

I Love My Animals
